A cannabis vaporizer, often simply referred to as a “vape,” is a specialized type of vaporizer designed for the consumption of cannabis and its derivatives. Unlike traditional smoking methods, such as joints or pipes, where cannabis is burned, a cannabis vaporizer heats the cannabis material to a temperature that is high enough to release the desired cannabinoids and terpenes but below the point of combustion. This produces a vapor that can be inhaled, delivering the therapeutic and psychoactive effects of cannabis without the harmful byproducts of combustion, such as tar and carcinogens. There are two main types of cannabis vaporizers: Dry Herb Vaporizers: These vaporizers are designed to vaporize the dried flowers (buds) of the cannabis plant. Users grind the cannabis buds and load them into the vaporizer’s chamber. The device then heats the material to the desired temperature, typically between 350°F to 450°F (175°C to 230°C), releasing the active compounds in the form of vapor. Vape Pens or Cartridge-Based Vaporizers: These vaporizers are designed to vaporize cannabis concentrates, such as THC oil or CBD oil. They typically consist of a battery and a cartridge filled with cannabis extract. When activated, the battery heats a coil or ceramic element inside the cartridge, which vaporizes the concentrate, allowing the user to inhale the vapor.
